Void launches the new Infinite QX

Void Acoustics is proud to announce the launch of its new range of 4 channel amplifiers: The Infinite QX.

Responding to the current trend in the market for greater power in smaller lightweight equipment, Void Acoustics have perfected their series of amplifiers. Manufactured at Void's new facility at Poole -UK-, the four channel range extends the already successful Infinite X Range.

The new range, based on the Infinite X architecture, provides the ultimate in performance with the three following models now available: Infinite QX4 with 4 x 600W at 4ohms, Infinite QX5 with 4 x 1000W at 4ohms and Infinite QX6 with 4 x 1200W at 4 ohms.The QX series makes use of a newly developed advanced mosfet output stage, which allows the highest fidelity and gives maximum reliability.To further enhance the flexibility of the QX series of amplifiers every channel also features a fully adjustable crossover filter. Each 24dB/oct L-R crossover can be configured as either Hi Pass or Lo Pass at any frequency between 70 Hz to 5Hs providing unsurpassed control.

The four channel Infinite QX has already received positive feedback from the end users who were all impressed with the performance and additional features. Alex Skan, Director of the company, emphasizes ‘we are very excited about the Infinite QX and we are looking into the future with more complex high performance product.’

Perfect Harmony at Mile End's Broke London

Mile End has a long history of club innovation, with new nightvenue Broke London keeping the tradition alive! The club's location was once home to Benjys - a name associated with chic clubbing over many years - with the venue now having been completely transformed. Broke London opened its doors recently for the first time, complete with an impressive Void sound system installed by Cosmic Electronics.

The stylish club boasts a vast dance floor, covered by four classic white Air Motion triple horns and four stacks of Stasys X subs. The raised DJ booth provides a fantastic view across the entire club, with the venue’s high ceilings maximising the feeling of drama and space. The bar area features four Airtens, with Void’s unique cabinets providing the perfect design complement to Broke London’s décor.

New Trinity X - Redefining Bass Performance

The latest product news is that we've officially launched the Trinity X wide bandwidth sub-bass enclosure. The Trinity X integrates a number of ground-breaking new technologies in a single-box solution. Designed for the spectrum of low frequency applications, the Trinity X is ideally suited for large-scale live events, club venues and touring.

With power handling of 1500 Watts RMS and a peak output of 139dB, Void’s objective with the Trinity X design is to set a new standard for bass output and extension in the 400-litre class.

Alex Skan explains:
“Our designer, Rog Mogale, is always looking for a new challenge, and has been working on our new high output Trinity Line Array series due for launch later this year. The Trinity X came about as part of this ongoing development, and has turned out to be a perfect complement to our signature triple-horn Air Motions. The Trinity X uses a number of new technologies to great effect. It is designed with horn loading to give the system a quick transient response combined with high efficiency. Resonant chamber technology has allowed us to take the extension down to 30Hz, with the Trinity X using a total of five resonant chambers. Two connect its dual horn paths, with the three others transmitting via a series of tuned ducts.

“The resonant chambers and horn’s outputs are combined in phase at the wave integrator, which also makes use of horn-loading to maximise long-distance projection and overall efficiency. Finally, we have used Heat Transference Technology (HTT) to decrease power compression dramatically and improve long-term reliability, involving a single rear-located heat sink to transfer heat from the voice coils and magnet assemblies. The reaction has been amazing – we can’t ship them out fast enough!”

We've already shipped the Trinity X system out to a number of high profile new installations, including the new AIR club in Amsterdam, and Shock39 in Bangkok, due to open in July.

Turning Up the Heat in Ibiza

We have a new distributor in Ibiza in the shape of IbizaPA, with Eric Robertson and his team already completing its first installations. The newly-opened Sands Beach Restaurant has an eye-catching white Airten system, themed to complement its White Bar. The new system was tested to the limit by the renowned DJ and record producer, Sander Kleinenberg, hosting Sands’ opening party on 15th May during his current tour.

The second installation represents a major coup for both IbizaPA and Void, involving the re-opening of the controversial DC-10 Club – where the party goes on all day long, after Space closes for the night! Located in a former airport hanger close to the runway at Ibiza Airport, DC-10 was shut down in 2009 and has just re-opened – featuring a sizeable Air Motion system with 8 of our iconic triple-horns complemented by 6 x Stasys X cabinets. IbizaPA turned the installation around for promoters Circo Loco in just 9 days from order to completion – reporting that they “love the sound and are sonically very impressed”.

Eric set up IbizaPA three years ago, building up a reputation for local events and installations. Earlier this year, he was looking for a new product line with an edge for the 2010 season, identifying Void as providing a perfect match for the image and sound-quality conscious Ibizan night scene. Now confirmed as Void’s official distributor, and with two high profile installations under his belt, Eric is set for a successful summer season.

Air Motion at Air Amsterdam

Clubs don’t get much bigger than the brand new Amsterdam venue – AIR – which opened on 29th April, complete with a massive Void system installed by the team from Void’s new dealers in Benelux - Soundfreax/Void BENELUX.

Occupying a legendary location on the site of the former well-known club iT, AIR maintains an intimate atmosphere despite its size – it can house up to 1300 in its various spaces, which include two dance halls and five bars,and features a conceptualised interior design by acclaimed Dutchman Marcel Wanders that makes extensive use of the latest AV technology.

A sizeable Air Motion system sits at its core, comprising 6 of Void’s signature Air Motion horns, 4 x Mycro 8s and
8 of Void’s brand new sub – the Trinity X 21”. The complete kit list includes 12 x Air Tens, 8 x Waveform 10s, and another first from Void - the specially designed Waveform 215, which uses 2 x 15” woofers instead of a single 12” – powered by 22 x Infinite amplifiers, capable overall of delivering up to 40kW of power!

Shocking New Sound for Bangkok

Central Bangkok is set to have a new, high-profile club. Due to open during April, Shock39 will be the first venue in Thailand to feature a Void system, and the first venue in the world to receive our new Trinity X subs.

Currently undergoing a complete refurbishment programme, the two-room 1500-capacity club – when it reopens next month – will be one of the city’s largest. It will also feature one of the most elaborate sound systems to have been installed in a Thailand nightclub. The installation is being carried out to European standards, handled by audio-visual specialist TechWorX Projects, which has recently expanded its operation in Thailand with new offices in Pattaya.

Tim Margetts, Director and Systems Integrator at TechWorX Projects, explained:

“Shock39 will be a significant new venue for Bangkok, and it’s being designed and installed to a very high standard. For example, acoustic consultants have been commissioned to ensure that the internal reverberation time and external sound leakage are well controlled. We specified Void as being an excellent fit with the venue’s design criteria, and due to the heavy recommendations for their products that we received from many sources – including one of our own engineers who had prior experience of Void systems.

“We are installing 8 of Void’s Trinity X subs for the dance floor, in a 2 x 4 array beneath the DJ booth, which is being built on two layers of concrete to provide sufficient low-end separation! The dance floor will also feature 6 x Axsys 15s, which Void have custom-finished in black, with red aluminium end-pieces – they look very cool indeed. We are also installing 6 x Basys 12s around the VIP and peripheral seating areas. The systems are being powered by Void Infinite 8 and Infinite 6 V2 amplifiers, using Void’s Digidrive Plus loudspeaker management processors.

“One of our biggest installation challenges is to ensure the power distribution aspects are being carried out to European standards. The mains supply in Thailand is not the cleanest or most reliable, with frequent brown-outs, interference and dirty AC, and we’re installing power sequencers and a high degree of surge protection.”

5-Star Install in Luxury Lisbon Hotel

Top Lisbon hotel, the 5-star Altis Belem Spa, is the latest high profile venue to install a state-of-the-art Void loudspeaker system, involving Void’s Airten and Arcline X cabinets. Local company A8 Sound was responsible for the sale and installation, working to a highly specific brief in terms of blending the system with the hotel’s eye-catching contemporary design.

Void’s unique combination of sound quality and visual aesthetics proved to be a perfect solution for the Altis Belem’s new bar - 38º41º. The system is designed to provide coverage across three small but separate zones, delivering a crisp, top quality sound, with full control over the SPL. A8 Sound deployed five AirTens and one Arcline X enclosure, colour-matched to blend in precisely with the bar’s striking décor, powered by Void’s Infinite X5 switch-mode amplifiers. A8 Sound have configured the three amplifiers to make the most of the Infinite X’s flexibility – with one operating in bridge mode, a second in stereo mode, and the third in dual mode, with one channel set at 4 Ohms and the other at 8 Ohms. System management is via the Digidrive Plus.

Just one Arcline X was sufficient to do the job, as A8 Sound’s Raul Ribeiro explains: “It’s amazing how much power and spectrum coverage Arcline X delivers, giving us the perfect solution for this prestigious installation. The Altis Belem was looking for a ground-breaking combination of looks and sound – making Void the ideal system choice, with its attention to audio detail and fantastic looks. Hotels are facing a real challenge to provide customers with a better, more tightly controlled sound and this system delivers on all counts.”

Dirt Soundsystem Shakes Red Bull

One of the better things to come out of major-brand globalisation is the support spin-off for the music industry. A case in point was the Red Bull Music Academy’s recent Culture Clash, hosted at the Roundhouse in Camden. Part of the Academy’s London 2010 series of events, running from early February until mid-March, the Culture Clash featured a four-way soundclash between Digital Mystikz (DMZ), Metalheadz, Jazzie B’s Soul II Soul Soundsystem and Trojan Sound System.

The event was a tremendous success, with Digital Mystikz using Bryan McLean’s Dirt Soundsystem to stunning effect. The general consensus was that the Dirt system was the night’s most powerful, by several degrees, with a bass weight reportedly of life-changing proportions. That’ll be the Psyco subs then!

Stacked six per side, the Psycos were accompanied by just three-a-side Stasys Primes, and powered by our Infinite and Infinite X amplifiers.

Bryan also deployed our Stasys 4 cabinets as DJ monitors, and Impulse 4t enclosures as floor wedges for the MC.

Dirt Soundsystem’s Bryan McLean, who has been running sound systems with business partners Rupert Neal and Dan Deeks for some ten years, told us:
“We had around two hours to set up before the sound check, during which we were asked to turn our system down a bit, as there were health and safety fears about the risk to the roof’s integrity! The event got under way very swiftly, and the format for the soundclash comprised four rounds, of fifteen minutes each, with the four stages set up at 90 degrees to each other. Everything got gradually louder as the rounds progressed, the tunes got better, the levels kept on increasing further, but the roof didn’t fall in! Credit is definitely due to Red Bull – they were brilliant - for putting so much effort and budget into sponsoring events like this, and supporting music in so many ways.

“We’ve used Void-based systems for around six years now, and rate their designs very highly. They’re excellent for both performance and value, and we really don’t need to spend anything more to get exactly what we need. The soundclash audience seemed to agree, and we’ve been bowled over by the many thank-you messages, phone calls and emails we’ve received! We couldn’t have asked for a better response. DMZ were absolutely ecstatic and are keen to work with us again. We’re still walking on cloud nine!”
